"Political fallout from the FBI nightclub sting that snared seven city of Miami Beach code and fire inspectors last week may reach all the way to the city manager’s office. Allegations that city inspectors extorted $25,000 out of a South Beach nightclub owner have not only sent city leaders scrambling for a plan to address concerns of collusion and corruption in vital city departments, but also reawakened a failed effort to oust longtime City Manager Jorge Gonzalez. Four city commissioners have called for a special meeting to discuss the arrests, including two who told The Miami Herald that Gonzalez should resign or be fired. “I will be moving to ask him to resign,” Commissioner Ed Tobin said. Commissioner Jonah Wolfson, who unsuccessfully tried to fire the city manager in December, said the recent arrests prove it’s time for the city to find a new administrator after nearly 12 years under Gonzalez’s leadership..."
