Lincoln Road attracts fashion retailers

New York real estate investor expands Lincoln Road presence - 01/03/2013 | MiamiHerald.com: " . . . Thor sees opportunity to attract fashion retailers looking to enter the market. Lincoln has recently seen an influx of international retailers like H&M, Forever 21 and Lacoste. Joe Sitt, chairman and chief executive of Thor Equities, was one of the first institutional investors to see Lincoln Road’s potential when he started buying property more than five years ago. At the time Sitt says other institutional investors “laughed” because they thought the market was too much of a party town. Sitt has been outbid by some of those same investors on other recent attempts to purchase property on Lincoln. “Lincoln Road is the hottest retail street in all of Miami and is among the busiest corridors in the world,” Sitt said. . . . Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/01/03/v-print/3166608/new-york-real-estate-investor.html#storylink=cpy

True Cost of Miami Beach City Hall Corruption

South Beach's Corrupt Projects: From Bathrooms to Frozen Yogurt Stand - Miami - News - Riptide 2.0: "When Gus Lopez was arrested in October on 63 charges ranging from money laundering to bribery, even the most jaded Miami Beach residents were amazed at the extent of his alleged corruption. For five years, the city's procurement director had run a contract racket out of his office at city hall, prosecutors say. Lopez connived to award multimillion-dollar contracts to friends, who then funneled more than $600,000 to him, his model wife, and accomplice Pierre Landrin Jr. The scam was splashed all over the papers. But little has been written about the lasting consequences of Lopez's corruption. His scheme not only cost Miami Beach taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars but also saddled the city with shoddy public works projects -- many of which are over budget or years overdue. . . . "

All of which begs the question--who was in charge of supervising Gus Lopez?

The New York City flagship garners consistent high marks for its creative seafood dishes in a yacht-like setting. . . expect to see an ocean's worth of fresh seafood with most entrees mid-priced, as well as raw shellfish and sushi. Confirmed carnivores might want to note that Lure's burger won the People's Choice award at the New York Wine & Food festival's 2009 Burger Bash. The restaurant is a partnership between Lure's Josh Pickard, John McDonald and executive chef Josh Capon and hotelier Jonathan Tisch, chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels. Chef Capon will act as executive chef of the Miami Lure when it opens. . . "
